Unibox Labs provides Q-Day as a free mood journal and check-in app. This Privacy Policy explains what information Q-Day collects or processes, how it is used, when it may be shared, and what choices users have.

1. Information We Collect or Process

1.1 App operation and anonymous IDs

• Anonymous Firebase Authentication ID used to operate anonymous emotion statistics and prevent duplicate check-ins.
• Anonymous Appwrite session/user ID used for public messages, nickname profiles, and leaderboard features.
• Device and app information such as device model, operating system version, app version, language, and basic diagnostic information.

1.2 Emotion check-ins and statistics

• Main daily emotion selection, check-in date, and related timestamp may be stored with an anonymous identifier in Firebase Firestore.
• Aggregated emotion counts are used to show anonymous community statistics.
• Additional private emotion records, comments, context tags, diary text, prompt answers, and diary photos are stored locally on your device.

1.3 Optional public and online features

• If you post a public one-line message, Q-Day stores the message content, anonymous Appwrite user ID, date, creation time, daily posting count, and moderation/block status. Public messages may be visible to other users.
• If you set a nickname, Q-Day stores the nickname, anonymous Appwrite user ID, and creation time. Nicknames may be shown in public features such as rankings.
• If you submit an Emotion 2048 leaderboard score, Q-Day stores the nickname, anonymous Appwrite user ID, score, highest tile/emotion value, and timestamps. Leaderboard entries may be visible to other users.

1.4 Analytics, ads, and consent

• Q-Day uses Firebase Analytics to understand aggregated app usage, screen views, and feature events.
• Q-Day uses Google AdMob to show ads. Google may process advertising identifiers, device information, IP-derived approximate location, ad interaction data, and consent signals where available.
• Where legally required, Q-Day uses Google's User Messaging Platform to request advertising consent before ad requests are made. If consent is not available, ads may be limited or not shown.

1.5 Device-only information

• Prompt answers, diary text, diary photos selected by the user, private emotion comments, custom context tags, local statistics, mini-game progress, reminder time, notification preference, language setting, and theme setting are stored on the device.
• Backup/export files are created only when you use the backup or export feature. If you choose to include photos, the backup can contain diary photos and should be kept private by you.

2. How We Use Information

• Provide mood check-ins, journaling, calendar, analysis, backup/export, and mini-game features.
• Show anonymous community emotion statistics and prevent duplicate daily main check-ins.
• Operate optional public message, nickname, and leaderboard features.
• Improve app reliability, usability, and performance through aggregated analytics.
• Show and measure ads, manage ad consent, and help prevent fraud or abuse.
• Respond to user requests, support inquiries, legal obligations, and security issues.

3. Third-Party Services

Q-Day uses the following service providers. Their processing is governed by their own terms and privacy policies.

• Google Firebase Authentication, Firebase Firestore, and Firebase Analytics: Firebase Privacy and Security
• Google AdMob and Google User Messaging Platform: Google AdMob policies and restrictions and Google Privacy Policy
• Appwrite backend services operated for Q-Day public messages, profiles, and leaderboards.
• Google Play services and Android platform services required for app distribution, updates, permissions, and billing-free app delivery.

4. Sharing and Disclosure

We do not sell personal information. We may share or disclose information only in these cases:

• With service providers listed above to operate the app.
• When you choose to use public features, such as public messages, nicknames, and leaderboard entries, which may be visible to other users.
• To comply with applicable law, legal process, or lawful government requests.
• To protect users, prevent abuse, troubleshoot security issues, or enforce service rules.
• In connection with a merger, acquisition, restructuring, or transfer of the service, with appropriate notice where required.

5. Permissions and Device Access

• Internet and network state: used for Firebase, Appwrite, AdMob, analytics, and public online features.
• Notifications: requested only if you choose to enable daily reminders on supported Android versions.
• Vibration: used for optional mini-game feedback.
• Photos selected by you: when you add diary photos, Q-Day copies only selected files into app storage. Photos are not uploaded to Q-Day servers.

Q-Day does not request precise location, contacts, microphone, SMS, call log, or camera permissions.

6. Data Retention and Deletion

• Local journal data remains on your device until you delete it in the app, clear app data, or uninstall the app.
• Local diary photos remain on your device until deleted in the app, included in a backup you create, cleared with app data, or removed by uninstalling the app.
• Anonymous emotion statistics and related main check-in records may be retained to provide service statistics. Aggregated statistics may remain after deletion because they are designed not to identify users directly.
• Public messages, nicknames, message counts, and leaderboard entries are retained while the related public feature is operated, unless deleted or blocked through moderation or a deletion request.
• Analytics and advertising data are retained by Google according to Google's policies and your device/account settings.

You can delete local data from app settings, by clearing app data, or by uninstalling the app. To request deletion of server-side records that may be linked to your anonymous IDs, contact us at rhsoh1@gmail.com. We may ask for information needed to locate the relevant anonymous records.

7. Your Choices and Rights

• You can choose not to use optional public features such as public messages, nicknames, and leaderboards.
• You can enable or disable reminders in app settings and Android system settings.
• You can manage ad personalization and advertising ID settings in Android or Google settings.
• Depending on your country or region, you may have rights to access, delete, correct, restrict, or object to certain processing of your information.

8. International Processing

Q-Day is available globally. Service providers may process information in countries other than your country of residence, including Korea, the United States, or other locations where Google, Appwrite, or their infrastructure providers operate.

9. Children

Q-Day is not directed to children under 13 and does not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided personal information, contact us so we can review and delete it where required.

10. Security

We use reasonable safeguards such as HTTPS transport, Firebase security rules, access controls, and local device storage. No method of electronic storage or transmission is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security.

11. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Updates will be posted on this page with a new effective date. If changes are material, we may provide additional notice in the app where appropriate.
